Norie Rooney
Artist Norie Rooney was born in New Jersey. She attended the Art Students League and studied under Brackman for many years. She continued her studies at the" Barn of Design" in Ridgewood, New Jersey. Her talent provided a career in illustration and later in design. Later Rooney moved to North Carolina and then to Illinois where she studied print making at Elgin Community College for three years. Her artistic studies in print making included etching.She took instruction from artist Daniel Green and with famous landscape artist Clyde Aspvig. More recently she has provided private instruction in oil painting to young artists who demonstrate exceptional talent. Rooney's pen and ink drawings of scenes in the Fox Valley have been reproduced in limited editions and are considered very collectible due to their strictly limited edition size. The artist's style features great detail as well as a "storytelling"nature that endears her work to collectors. This artist's work in pastel portraiture is among the very finest. Her ability to capture her subject's personality makes her work in demand. This exacting portraiture utilizes a combination of sittings and photography. "Although I have worked in pastel, charcoal, tempera, and oil, the oil medium remains my favorite. It presents the greatest challenge but brings the greatest satisfaction", says Rooney.
