Mercier
Luz Ines Mercier was born in Lima, Peru in 1960. She studied art at the
School of Art of the Universidad Católica del Perú, from where she
graduated, with the highest honors, in 1984.
Other studies include: Architectonic Drawing at the School of Irene
Santolaya; Ceramics at the School of Teresa Gotuzzo; and Dance at the
School of Armando
Barrientos.
Despite her young age, and because of her academic achievements, she was
invited, in 1985, to teach at the University’s School of Art, joining a
very select group of professors.
She studied under Adolph Winternitz, an Austrian artist, who was
considered one of the best-known followers of Marc Chagall. Winternitz
