What is Conservation Framing? It is the appropriate housing to display the intrinsic beauty and interest of an object, while prolonging its life by securing the object in a mechanically and chemically stable environment. It minimizes the problems caused by deterioration of the components of the object itself and other problems introduced by environmental factors such as air pollution, heat, light and humidity. When applied to framing, the term Conservation is synonymous with Preservation, Archival, or Museum Framing. It should not be confused with Restoration Conservation's means maximizing preservation of the current condition. Restoration means returning an object to a previous favorable condition. The knowledge of which course of action to be followed is obviously critical to the life of the artwork. There are different conservation requirements for different art forms, mediums and substrates. Canvas, paper, textiles, photos, etc. all require different methods, techniques and materials. Whether art or the substrate is synthetic (man-made) or natural also is important to the determining conservation methods. FRAME PACKAGE FOR PAPER BORNE ART
